What is it about music that appeals to each of us as individuals? Some of us desire to be emotionally "picked-up" by the beat,... others among us want to be whisked away in some short three minute "novella", to share a common experience with the characters or their situation. Still others look to music to find a familiar influence in melody, instilling memories from our youth, like aromas from the past, (forcing those 'synapse' to fire), and warm feelings to emerge. It's these three... rhythm, melody, and lyric, in any combination, that comprise a song. At this point... I would like to introduce you to a new songwriting / performing duo, Herring & Vaughn. This creative partnership and collaboration brings to the music scene, a vast "cornucopia" of musical experience, talent, style, lyrical ability, and influence.

Michael D. Herring is the true southern connection to this team. Being raised in, around, and "amongst" the musicians, players, writers, and artists, that were and continue to be, Florida's contribution to the music of this great country. A very talented, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, vocalist, and writer, Michael is well on his way to establishing himself, his songs, and his music. His own family tree, rooted "deep down in the Florida wetlands", played such an important part of, and still influences the music we listen to today. With a love he demonstrates in his music, you can tell by his talent, ability, and determination, that Michael will continue to uphold his family tradition.

Tim Vaughn , (raised in Missouri, but with roots in East Kentucky and Tennessee), brings to this partnership a blend of poetry and storytelling. Self taught on guitar, from early on he learned that the writing he loved so much to do, was a talent that was bestowed, and not to be taken lightly. His voice is a distinctive, deep, Don Williams meets Harry Chapin blend, that captivates the listener who unknowingly is whisked into the Herring & Vaughn world, where Michael's arranging talents, multi-instrument performances, and vocals help to complete a melodic, entertaining, three-dimensional rollercoaster ride, that will have you standing in line to ride again.

To classify Herring and Vaughn  to any one category is virtually impossible. However, the term "Americana" would probably suffice. From song to song, the listener cannot predict where the next one will go, so there is no pre-judgment. The truly wonderful thing about this? Every song, every melody and every instrumental is fresh, clean, clear...captivating!
